The “Marketing for Writers” class low-cost and no-cost methods for increasing book sales. The class will include the following topics:
• A quick overview of Marketing concepts.
• The importance of having a website and the items to include.
• The importance of Social Media
a. A detailed description and techniques to use on Twitter, including hashtags, landing pages, pinned tweets, call to action, retweets, how to gain more followers, setting up your bio, providing interesting info not just trying to sell sell sell, how to automate tweets using Hootsuite, etc. I currently have 50,000 followers on Twitter and I will use my Twitter page, and the pages of other authors (such as James Patterson, Brad Thor, James Baldacci, Nora Roberts) to illustrate my points. I will not need an internet connection, as I incorporate website screen grabs to illustrate my points.
b. The use of a Facebook page (your profile page) and a Facebook Author page and Facebook pages for each of your books.
c. The importance of LinkedIn
d. Goodreads and Google Plus
• The importance of having a newsletter and how to create one and vendors available
• Book clubs.
• The importance of cover design and book title selection.
• Other marketing ideas, such as submitting press releases to magazines and newspapers, joining professional writers groups, attending book fairs, book signings, etc.
